Anyone who has worked a real shift in the service industry knows the difference between someone who has been trained and someone who actually gives a damn. Customer service is a script. Hospitality is a temperament. You either have it or you don’t, and no corporate onboarding deck has ever drilled it into someone who wasn’t already wired that way. Calvin is wired that way. I live down valley. I’ve been into Native Roots five, six, maybe more times by now, and through some quiet miracle of scheduling, I’ve ended up with Calvin almost every visit. I’m not here to talk about flower or prices or the wall of options, because honestly, that’s not why I keep coming back. I keep coming back because of him. The guy knows, and enjoys the product. Like, really knows it. Not in the rehearsed way of someone reading shelf talkers, but in the way of a sommelier who has actually tasted the wine and remembers what it did to him. Pair that with energy that lifts the room instead of draining it, and you’ve got something rare. Something you cannot teach. A note to management: this is your next general manager. Maybe sooner. The kind of person who walks the floor like he owns the place, not because he’s been told to, but because he genuinely cares whether the people in front of him have a good time. Take care of him. Invest in him. He’s the reason locals like me drive past three other dispensaries to get here.
